CardVeal™ is an online memory card game. Flip cards, remember where they are, and match every set to clear the level
The goal of the game
Each level has a board of face-down cards. Your goal is to find and match all the sets before the timer runs out. The better your memory, the fewer flips you need.
Cards per level: Starts at 4 cards (Level 1) and increases up to 18 cards (max). Set size: Levels 1–9 use pairs (2 cards per set). Every 10 levels (ranks), the set size increases: Levels 10–19 use triples (3 cards), Levels 20–29 use quadruples (4 cards).
Timer: Each level has a time limit based on the number of sets and current level. The timer counts down in real-time; if it reaches zero, the game ends.
Step-by-step: how to play
- Start the game. Open CardVeal and choose Start from the main menu to begin Level 1.
- Flip the cards. Tap or click a card to flip it and see what is on the other side.
- Memorize positions. Cards turn back over after you reveal them, so remember where each one is.
- Match the sets. Find the cards that belong together and match every set on the board to win the level.
- Unlock and replay levels. Clearing a level unlocks the next one. Tap any unlocked level to replay it.
Levels
CardVeal has 100 levels across 10 ranks. Difficulty increases in three ways:
- More cards: Level 1 starts with 4 cards (2 pairs); the board grows roughly every 2 levels, maxing out at 18 cards.
- Larger sets: Every 10 levels (boss levels), the set size increases—pairs → triples → quadruples—so you must match 3 or 4 identical cards consecutively.
- Less time: The timer shortens as you advance, requiring faster recall.
- New card designs: 12 unique card themes unlock at specific levels (bread, strawberry, vehicles, sneakers, gems, fruits, etc.), adding visual variety.
Every 10th level is a Boss Level with a special introduction and all cards briefly revealed at the start.
Scoring and winning
Win a level: Match every set on the board before the timer expires. A You Won! screen appears and you automatically advance to the next level.
Points: Each matched set awards points (base 1 × combo multiplier). Consecutive matches increase your combo multiplier (+0.5 per match), boosting subsequent points.
Gems: Every 2–3 combo milestones grant bonus gems (1–3 gems). Gems and points persist across sessions via localStorage.
Stars on the map: Completed levels show stars—1 star for normal levels, 3 stars for boss levels.
Time up: If the timer reaches zero, a Game Over screen appears and the game resets to Level 1 (progress is lost unless you replay from the map).
Tips to improve your memory
- Start in one corner. Reveal cards in a consistent order so you can build a mental map of the board.
- Say it out loud. Naming each card as you flip it helps you remember it.
- Group cards in your head. Think in rows or quadrants instead of trying to remember every card individually.
- Replay earlier levels. Practising on levels you have unlocked is an easy way to build speed.
